Work Wear: Nordstrom Anniversary Sale Edition

My goal while shopping the Nsale was to find staple work wear pieces that could be worn to the office or to court. There are lots of great brands that have a ton of work wear options, such as J.Crew, Halogen, and Leith. I think an overlooked area of the sale is picking out pieces that are great for the office, especially since a lot of bloggers don’t work in an office anymore. I’ll have another post later about everyday pieces I picked (that you could also wear to work) but this post is specifically for my gals who work at an office.

  • J.Crew Blazer: I picked up this blazer in two colors: navy and pink. I knew I needed the navy blazer but the pink one caught me off guard. I am in love with the color and think it’ll add a nice pop of color to any outfit!
  • Mural coat: I really love this coat! It’s not too heavy or warm and seems like it’ll be good for rain, too. The only downside is that it doesn’t have a waist tie to keep it closed. That isn’t a huge deal breaker for me because I rarely close my coats and jackets but for those of you in snow or rain climates, this might be an issue.
  • BP. cardigan: Each year BP comes out with a staple cardigan and I’ve picked up one every year. This years cut is a little different because it has more of a cocoon shape and it’s ribbed. I like this cardigan for casual Fridays.
  • Gibson surplice blouse: I feel like Rachel Zane from Suits when I wear this top. This is great for the office and then going out to dinner or hanging out with friends after work.
  • Madewell stripe shirt: This has the cutest button detail on the back! I believe this is supposed to have an oversized look and fit to it but if you size down, it’ll look more like a regular office shirt that can be work with a skirt or pants.
  • Halogen skirt: I rarely buy pants or skirts from Nordstrom because my hips are larger than the typical sizes they sell. I normally wear a 12 or 14 in pants and skirts. I was pleasantly surprised when I tried this skirt on at how well it fit and how flattering it looks. I highly recommend this skirt and I wish they had more colors because I’d buy it in every color.
  • Sam Edelman heels: I wore these to an interview the other day and love how comfortable they are! These are a great wist on a plain nude pump. These have small studs on the lining but from far away you can’t even tell.
  • Halogen leopard mules: These mules were made for my casual Fridays. These would look great with the black Gibson blouse and pants.
  • Tory Burch purse: The number one thing I said I was getting this year was a TB purse for work. I am in love with this bag! It has so many pockets and can hold a laptop plus files and everything else women carry in their purses. I am seriously so excited to start working so I can use this!
