Welcome to YouTube!

I did a thing: I started my own Flosstube YouTube channel!

I have been watching YouTube for a long time, but was never really interested in starting my own channel.

However, quarantine and staying home helped me renew my passion for cross stitching. Suddenly I found myself watching videos about cross stitchers sharing their current “works in progress” (WIPs), “Finishes”, and “Finally Finished Objects” (FFO). People who make these videos are called Flosstubers and these videos are called Flosstube. Flosstube doesn’t just cover cross stitching. It also covers knitting, crocheting, quilting, etc.

I decided to make my own channel because I realized I have no stitchy friends. Besides my mom, I am the only person I know who cross stitches. Therefore, I decided to join this community to make some new friends and share the projects I’m working on.

While I plan on making videos about my WIPs, finishes, and FFOs, I also planning on sharing those things here on my blog.

My current work in progress is the Sleepy Hollow Sampler by Frosted Pumpkin Stitchery. I’ve really enjoyed stitching this one and plan on finishing it this week so I can add it to my Fall/Halloween decor!

I have one finish and one semi-FFO. I fully finished Pumpkin Spice by Frosted Pumpkin Stitchery. I also finished All Hallow’s Eve by Frosted Pumpkin Stitchery. I took some liberties with All Hallow’s Eve to make the pattern look more like Kiki and Jiji from Kiki’s Delivery Service. This was also the first time I used variegated floss (on the moon). I’m not sure how I like the variegated floss yet because, to me, the moon looks like the Death Star. I’ll probably try it one more time before giving up.

I have two projects on my radar and both are gifts. The first is an Irish blessing I plan on giving to my grandma. The other is for my best friend. She wants “You deserve a Paul Hollywood hand shake” on a pattern with desserts that she can put next to her stand mixer. She picked out Sugar is Sweet by Frosted Pumpkin Stitchery. She isn’t too fond of the pink so I’m going to pick out some blues/teals/greens to fit her style!

I hope you’ll take the time to watch this video and my future videos!

you kind have to play with variagated floss. sometimes the “one stitch at a time” thing works for the shape or item you’re creating, sometimes a random format works. It does add a bit of difference to a piece. I love GAST and Weeks myself.

Thank you for the comment!! I figure I’ll try it a couple more times before completely writing it off!
